IFPMA is inviting experts for a discussion on solutions and partnerships for equitable access to innovation

Whether it is access to COVID-19 tools or diagnostics, vaccines, and treatments for other diseases, equitable access remains the principal challenge for global health progress. IFPMA is inviting experts across the global health community in Geneva, as well as representatives from industry to join a discussion about how and why working together towards equitable access continues to be key. The event will begin with a keynote speech from Dr. Ayoade Alakija, WHO Special Envoy for the Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator/ACT-Accelerator, and Chair of the Africa Union African Vaccine Delivery Alliance. This will be followed by a series of rapid-fire discussions with the panel, who will draw on examples across four themes: pandemic preparedness, cancer, health systems strengthening, and supporting local innovation.I﻿ntroductory remarks will be provided by Amadou Diarra, Senior Vice President Global Policy &amp; Government Affairs, Bristol-Myers Squibb &amp; IFPMA Council Chair.The panel will be composed by: <ul><li>Cary Adams, Chief Executive Officer, Union for International Cancer Control</li><li>Dr Jemima Kamano, Physician, lecturer and researcher in Moi University School of Medicine, Kenya</li><li>Prof Kelly Chibale, Professor and Neville Isdell Chair in African-centric Drug Discovery &amp; Development at the University of Cape Town, Founder and Director of UCT’s Holistic Drug Discovery and Development Centre, H3D</li><li>Thomas Cueni, Director General, International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations </li></ul>C﻿losing remarks will be provided by Jean-Christophe Tellier, UCB CEO and IFPMA president.The rapid fire discussions with the panel will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience.The event will be followed by a cocktail reception.
