Leading Remote Teams In A Distributed WorldMany businesses doubted the benefits of remote work for no one could have predicted it would become a worldwide phenomenon overnight. However, the post-pandemic world has disproved all naysayers. The advantages of remote work, for employers and employees alike, has never been more clear. This approach to work is here to stay for the foreseeable future, if not permanently in some form or another.Business leaders are fast learning that it is possible for their teams to work from home, without compromising productivity or hurting sales. But, it does require adjustments in leadership. Effective leadership of remote teams, in a distributed world, is a core capability that is a prerequisite in the future of work. But, where does one start? The New Role Of ManagementWhen managers are thrust into a remote work environment, they are forced to evaluate performance based on outcomes rather than time-in-seat. Remote work stops working when you can’t trust the person on the other end of the screen. This is why micromanagement and trying to control how remote workers spend their time is toxic and counterproductive. Instead, remote managers need to build and earn trust. They have to learn to vest their teams with decision-making power and more autonomy such that the responsibility shifts, at least partly, towards the teams.Improve Your Leadership Within Remote Teams!Semco Style equips leaders with a framework to lead, manage and inspire distributed teams and create an employee friendly culture characterized by psychological safety.
