Event description
Interested in Data (Science), love Beers and in Zurich? Join us for after-work beers, interesting data talks, and networking; all for free!

About this Event

Hello Beer and Data Enthusiasts!

We are excited to announce the second DataBeers event in Zurich (@Impact Hub Zürich - Viadukt) to promote data culture amongst data enthusiasts of all kinds! This event follows other Databeers events across the world, and we hope to replicate their huge success here in Zurich!

The event is free (including the sponsored beers, first come first serve)!

We will have the following, very exciting line-up:

Rosa Visscher (PhD student in Neuromuscular Control @ Laboratory for Movement Biomechanics, Institute for Biomechanics, ETH Zurich):

Towards Personalising Therapy

While novel technologies keep changing the field of pediatric neuro-orthopedics, patient outcomes have not shown improvements over the last 20 years. How can we make sure patients benefit from the newest developments?

Michaela Slotwinski (Postdoctoral researcher, @ Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Basel & Centre for European Economic Research, Mannheim)

What if She Earns More?

Quantitative research in the social sciences and economics often relies on survey data. What if social norms affect response behaviour?

Lisa-Christina Winter (Senior Product Researcher @ Chatroulette)

Psycho-Segmentation: Becoming Your Customer's Best Friend

Can we know our potential customers better than our close friends? And how can we use this "digital friendship" to our advantage in marketing? With thin boarders between technical brilliance and ethical constraints, psycho targeting offers an impressive use case for marketing and product development.

Elliott Ash (Assistant Professor of Law, Economics, and Data Science @ ETH Zurich)

Language as a Window into Judicial Biases

Are judges really neutral in their decisions? Thanks to new developments in natural language processing, judicial opinion text can now reveal how judges are influenced by emotions, ideology, and personal values.

The DataBeers procedure:

  1. Doors open at 18:00.
  2. 18:00-18:30 -> Meet & greet, socialising while enjoying free beers sponsored by "Gottfried".
  3. Talks begin at 18:30: four to five short talks à 6-7 minutes.
  4. After the talks (around 19:15): more socialising, meeting the speakers.
  5. Doors close at 20:30. (Those still thirsty for beers and debates move on to the next Pub...)

In order to ensure beers for all of you, you need to register! The event is for free, but registering is mandatory!

Spread the word, datafy your friends and bring them with you. The more the merrier!

Beers are kindly sponsored by "Gottfried" (Rother Ackerstein). Full information at our webpage.
