ELUCID

Poor health weakens supply chain resilience by reducing productivity, financial stability, and driving unethical practices like child labor, with women disproportionately affected. Many low-income communities in the commodity sector have limited access to healthcare and bear the financial burden of illness. These factors are major drivers of poverty and vulnerability, ultimately pushing families further into poverty and forcing child labour and illegal logging to cover costs. And this undermines community resilience.

Elucid, Berlin-based social enterprise founded in 2022 by Dr Julius Emmrich and Dr Samuel Knauss, tackles a pressing social challenge: how to make access to healthcare in global supply chains both scalable and sustainable. The interdisciplinary team combines public health expertise with data-driven solutions to improve the health and livelihoods of producers and workers worldwide. Elucid offers a data-driven platform that enhances supply chain transparency by providing companies with reliable data for impact and sustainability reporting, while simultaneously delivering healthcare coverage to smallholder farmers.

Since 2022, Elucid has enabled access to healthcare for 30'000 farmers and workers across six countries - Ghana, Madagascar, Côte d'Ivoire, Uganda, Ecuador, and Venezuela, within the cocoa, coffee, cotton, nuts, and fresh fruit supply chains. To date, the program has facilitated over 20'000 doctor visits.

What to expect

This event will offer a firsthand look into Elucid’s mission, its groundbreaking tools, and real-world impact, showing how investments in communities health can drive poverty reduction and strengthen long-term resilience in the commodity sector. The evening will also include an interactive Q&A and a moderated discussion featuring insights from a client case.
