Our beautiful beaches and vibrant marine life are facing an unprecedented threat: plastic pollution and marine litter. This event is a direct response to that challenge. We've designed "Protecting Our Shores" to have both local impact and global reach:
- Hands-On Beach Cleanups: In Geneva, for those attending in person, volunteers will actively remove plastic waste, discarded fishing nets, and other harmful pollutants from our shores. We'll provide all the necessary tools – from garbage bags to gloves and litter pickers – to ensure a safe and effective cleanup. After the cleanup, collected waste will be carefully sorted for recycling or proper disposal, making a direct and visible difference.
- Empowering Marine Education: We believe that knowledge is power. At our cleanup sites, we'll feature environmental education booths offering valuable insights into the current state of ocean pollution and practical ways to reduce plastic use in your daily life.
