This is an online Yoga Workshop designed to help women find greater ease in the transition into and past menopause.

About this event

Menopause is a time that can often feel like our life is turned upside down, but it can also be an amazing transition in life and a journey towards new beginnings. As with everything in life, keeping active and healthy provides essential support for the journey.

In this online yoga and menopause workshop, we will start with a short discussion about menopause, followed by a yoga practice that will include gentle but active poses, breathing techniques, restorative yoga and guided meditation.

The session will be recorded and made available for four weeks after the event for all those who register. If you can join us live, you will have an opportunity to revist the workshop via the recording. If you cannot join us live, you can partake in the workshop via the recording.

THIS MONTH’S TOPIC: Mood changes

As your reproductive hormone levels change, your body may react with hot flashes, sleep interruptions, and changes in mood that can be unpredictable. Sometimes these mood changes take the form of extreme and sudden feelings of panic, anxiety, low mood or anger.

These changes in mood can be influenced by hormonal fluctuations as well as life circumstances such as getting older and moving into a different phase of life. Disrupted sleep and other menopause experiences can also contribute to moods that don’t feel as stable or predictable as they used to be.

Yoga has been shown to have a positive effect on mood and anxiety that may be mediated neurochemically.

FOR WHOM: Any woman who thinks she is getting near menopause, has hit menopause or is post-menopausal. It is open to women of all levels of yoga experience, from the absolute novice to very experienced.

WHERE: ONLINE

I recommend you have a yoga mat and 2-4 blankets. If you have yoga blocks, bolsters or cushions, have them handy too.

TEACHER: Julie Morrow is certified vinyasa flow and yin yoga teacher with an emphasis on intentional myofascial training (called yoga with slings), and is a yoga therapist in training. Julie also has a PhD in Human Nutrition and Nutritional Biology and works as a health coach and educator.
