TEDxGVAGrad "Rethink Realities"

TEDxGVAGrad: Our Idea Worth Sharing

At TEDxGVAGrad, we aspire to present a unique opportunity to bring together Geneva’s academic and non-academic realities while stimulating the spread of varied viewpoints on contemporary issues affecting our society. With nearly 1,000 students hailing from over 100 countries, the Geneva Graduate Institute (IHEID) has a legacy of promoting diverse perspectives and ideas, with notable alumni such as Kofi Annan and Micheline Calmy-Rey. Challenging preconceived notions opens the door for innovation in addressing key global issues. Across any sector or field of study- from the arts, technology, social justice, politics, to business- pushing the boundaries of the status quo not only helps solve the problems of today, but also to re-envision possibilities for the future. By tapping into the diversity of the Geneva Graduate Institute and Geneva as an international hub, TEDxGVAGrad aims to discover new paradigms beyond conventional perspectives through creativity, openness, and exposure!

About the Geneva Graduate Institute (IHEID)

The Geneva Graduate Institute was founded in 1927 as the world's first academic institution dedicated to the cross-cutting fields of international relations and development. With nearly 1,000 students hailing from over 100 countries, the Institute has a legacy of trailblazers, with notable alumni such as Kofi Annan and Micheline Calmy-Rey. Located in the heart of international Geneva and surrounded by international organisations, non-governmental organisations, and multinational firms, the Geneva Graduate Institute is a hub for both academic and innovative engagements.

Through core activities, IHEID aims to promote international cooperation and make a contribution to the progress of developing societies. More broadly, IHEID endeavors to develop creative thinking on the major challenges of our time, foster global responsibility and advance respect for diversity. IHEID is a cosmopolitan community located in the heart of Geneva, an international city and a center of global governance. By intensely engaging with international organizations, NGO’s, governments and multinational companies, IHEID participates in global discussions and prepare future policy-makers to lead tomorrow’s world.

WHAT IS TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxGVAGrad, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxGVAGrad event, TED Talks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized. Find out more about TED here.
