South Sligo Summer School
The South Sligo Summer School was founded in 1987 in Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo to conserve and promote the rich tradition of music, song and dance of the area. With a full programme of classes, workshops, céilithe, concerts, recitals and talks, there is special emphasis on the old Sligo traditional style of playing, whilst also embracing many other aspects of the tradition.
2026 marks the 40th Year of Scoil Samhraidh Shligigh Theas and a number of special events are being organised to mark this significant milestone in the history of the South Sligo Summer School.
Online Booking is now open for Workshops & Céilithe. Tickets can also be purchased now online for the Friday Night Concert. Tickets will come in sale soon for the Monday Night Celebratory Concert honouring the four founding members of the South Sligo Summer School , their legacy and featuring music, song and dance from their places of origin: the late Rita Flannery from Carrigart in North Donegal, the late Geraldine Murtagh from Manorhamilton, North Leitrim, the recently deceased Michael Severs from Tuam in North Galway & Marie Flannery, born and raised in Culfadda in South Sligo.
