Drops: Conscious Dance
"I was born to dance" is how I'd describe the feeling of freedom and magic I felt from an early age, dreaming of making this my life purpose. But as many childhood dreams, it wasn't to be until I stumbled across a conscious dance modality called "5 Rhythms" in London in 2013.
Then, I realized there were spaces which welcomed average people like me to re-discover this passion but with a new sense of purpose and I was hooked! I couldn't believe there were other people out there who resonated with dancing for the pure love of it without the pressure of learning choreography.
A few years later, during the pandemic I also came across "Ecstatic Dance" which catapulted me into pursuing this form of self-expression which quickly turned into a personal journey of self-discovery through music as medicine turning me into a "professional Ecstatic Dance DJ".
Since then I've gained a lot of experience travelling across the country to hold space at most of the major conscious dance events including EDUK, ED Brighton, ED Bristol and co-founding Ecstatic Dance Somerset in 2025 as well as playing at various festivals and events such as Buddhafield, The Leela Centre, the legendary Ministry of Sound to name a few.
My life mission is grounded in being an instrument for inner change using the dance-floor as a metaphor of life, creating spaces where people feel safe to express and learn about themselves wherever they're at in life and "Drops" was born out of the call to provide a "conscious" space to facilitate inner growth and self-development through the medium of free-form movement to music as medicine.
Our bodies are the primal, precious instruments in our human experience, storing all the conscious and unconscious lived emotional experiences. When we connect deeply with the physical in the present moment, we create the opportunity to access the stored emotions and energies that anchor us in. Through movement and dance we can choose to release them to create more space to feel more connected with ourselves and our potential. This is a powerful tool which any person of any age and physical ability can use to enhance their life.
Thank you for reading and hope if this resonates with you, you'd like to drop onto our dancefloor sometime!!
