Forest Bridges: The O&C Forest Habitat Project
Rethinking Protection: Coming together for the health of our forests through Active Conservation.
Our Mission and Work: Roseburg, Oregon-based Forest Bridges (forestbridges.org) is a grassroots nonprofit organization that formed in 2015 to bring consensus and trust among people of different perspectives and interests -- conservation and environmentalism, forest industry, recreation, and wildlife -- specifically on the management of the 2.9 million acres of O&C Lands of western Oregon. We partner with Tribal Nations, governments, scientists, other nonprofits, and the broader public. Through our collaborations and partnerships, and study of science supported by the preponderance of evidence and Traditional Ecological Knowledge and Tribal practice, we develop climate-smart, habitat-based forest management proposals as well as recommend concepts to resolve barriers on these public lands, which are managed by the BLM and US Forest Service. Our upcoming public meetings are intended to share and gain feedback on our living Principles of Agreement and forest management proposals (an example here), as well as to build our base of Friends of Forest Bridges. Please consider becoming one of our Friends (by clicking here)or donating to our efforts (by clicking here). We hope you'll join us!
