Hazura Isilay

I am Hazura Isilay, an artist and founder of HazuraStudio, based in Zurich. I left an established career in Biotech to reconnect with something deeper-my health, my heritage and my purpose. Living with Lupus since my teenage years, I began a healing journey that lead me to the world of batik-a centuries old textile art form that I discovered through learning directly from master artisans. In Batik, I found more than a craft- I found a way to slow down, to listen, and to heal. It became a form of meditation, of expression, and of reconnection to my roots.

At HazuraStudio, I host intimate creative workshops, chldren batik stations, pop up exhibitions & cultural events that invite people to step away from the fast pace life into a mindful space of making. Each experience is designed not just to teach technique- but to foster presence, connection, and care for tradition.

My mission is to use batik as a bridge between cultures, a pathway to personal healing, and a platform to honor traditional artisans. I believe slowing down is an act of resistance-and that in stillness, we not only find ouselves, but one another.

Through my work, I aim to:

  • Uplift the dignity of traditional batik craft
  • Foster healing through creative community
  • Build a conscious link between Swiss audiences and Asian global batik artisans
