The Mackintosh Tearooms - Creative Learning
The Mackintosh Tearooms can be found on Sauchiehall Street, at the heart of Glasgow city centre. You will discover a variety of beautiful spaces, each with their own character and unique design, including the famous Salon de Luxe. The tearooms were first opened by Miss Cranston in 1903 and were designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in collaboration with his wife, Margaret Macdonald.
This commission resulted in one of the most spectacular heritage attractions in the city, now known as The Mackintosh Tearooms. The jewel-like interior designs and the frontage pay testament to the unique vision of Mackintosh and Macdonald.
We began to care for the Mackintosh Tearooms (formerly known as Mackintosh at the Willow) in January 2024, thanks to support from our members and donors as well as a generous package from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to enable the transfer.
The National Trust for Scotland is the charity that cares for, shares and speaks up for Scotland's magnificent heritage. We're Scotland's largest membership organisation and we're independent from government.
