Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc-Alpha Phi Zeta Chapter
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. is an organization of college/university-educated women dedicated to fostering the ideals of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood. An international organization, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. has more than 800 chapters in North America, Europe, Asia, The Caribbean, Africa, and the Middle East.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. - Alpha Phi Zeta Chapter was chartered on February 27, 1942. The historic event took place at the Richmond Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA). Esther Petton, Middle Eastern Regional Director, facilitated the chartering ceremony. The fourteen charter members were: Mildred Banks, Audrey Bradford, Antoinette Bowler, Celestine Braxton, Theresita Braxton, Anita Gaines, Sarah Holmes, Olivia Lindsey, Ollie Neal, Adlena Sanders, Zipporah Taylor, Alma Temple, Martha Warren, Lillian Wilson. All of the charter members joined the sorority through Nu Chapter on the campus of Virginia Union University.
Alpha Phi Zeta Chapter has served the community of Richmond, VA. For over 80 years, and has strived to better its community.
